Bitdefender free edition uses the same scanning engine as the paid version, delivering a 99.7% detection rate. The trade-off is fewer features: no firewall, no VPN, and no advanced ransomware protection.
4. Kaspersky Free: Best for Performance
Kaspersky free has the lowest system impact of any antivirus we tested. On a mid-range PC, scans caused virtually no slowdown. Detection rate: 99.5%.
5. Microsoft Defender: Best Built-In Option
